Some spirits can't be kept close until they've been bound. The Sealed Oni is one of them. It has a skull lacquered in black, a deep red face, golden horns and eyes and, on its forehead, a seal: the mark of something that had to be contained before it could be kept.
A braided black cord hangs below, knotted by hand.
It isn't decoration. It's a boundary.
At Shinto shrines, a braided rope called a shimenawa separates the everyday world from the sacred. It's tied around trees, rocks and gates to show that something different lives there. And paper talismans called ofuda were placed over whatever must not wake.
The Sealed Oni brings both together. Whatever lives inside this mask has been recognized, named and placed in your care. You don't fear what's inside. You're the one who keeps it.
It's not a costume. It's high-density resin with a glossy black skull and a deep red face, painted so every relief has depth. The horns and eyes are gold and shift with the light. The braided black cord with a tassel hangs below the chin and moves with the air in the room.
For many, it's the most elegant piece in the collection: the one that looks the oldest, the most ceremonial, the most like it came from a temple.
It's not a mask you hide. It's one you guard.
| Material | High-density resin, detailed painted finish |
|---|---|
| Finish | Black lacquered skull and deep red face |
| Horns | Gold |
| Forehead | Carved seal with gold detail |
| Cord | Braided black cord with hand-knotted tassel, included |
| Interior | Smooth finish with adjustable strap, to display or wear |
| Weight | Solid: it feels like a collector's piece, not a toy |
| Display | Ready to hang; the cord falls naturally |
Hang it on the wall and let the cord fall freely: it's part of the piece. It works especially well above a low cabinet, a bed or a console table, where the tassel stays in view.
If you'd rather stand it on a shelf, gather the cord to one side so the seal on the forehead shows.
The seal faces out. What it guards stays in.
