WHITE ONI // 白鬼

In Japanese folklore, white isn't the color of purity. It's the color of spirits. The kimono the dead are dressed in, the ghosts that appear at the side of the road, whatever has already crossed to the other side. When something appears in white in a Japanese legend, it has already been through what should have ended it.

And still, it came back.

The White Oni is the demon that returned.

There's a story told in the mountains of Japan about an oni that was defeated, buried and forgotten. Years later, in the snow, someone saw a white face with golden horns watching from the forest. It didn't attack. It didn't run. It just watched.

That's what this mask is like. It doesn't have the fury of red or the weight of black. It has something harder to explain: the calm of something that's no longer afraid of anything.

It's not a costume. It's high-density resin with an aged white finish, painted to look like carved bone. The spirals on the forehead and cheeks are engraved one by one; the golden horns rise from rings and the long fangs are ivory.

How to display it

Stand it on a wooden table next to some incense, or hang it on a dark wall so the white becomes the center of the room.

To clean it, a dry cloth is all you need: the aged finish is made to last for years.

Put it where the light comes in slowly. It already knows the dark.
